1. The payment method changed from invoice billing to a valid credit card
2. Phone PIN verified

Log into the account using the root user

Adding payment method

Click on the account name on the top, then Payment methods on the side. And then add card details and click on continue.

Once Account is Verified

Go to my Account from Root Account user and click Close account

Click on My account and follow the steps:

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tick the 4 boxes and click on the ‘Close Account’ button. Then you will get a confirmation message as seen below.

Now log into the console and go to AWS Organizations. Then Select the Account that you want to remove, and click on the Actions drop down menu to select the “Remove form Organization” option.

Common Errors faced in AWS Control Tower Close Account

If Valid Payment method is not added then the account won’t be deleted.
If Phone Pin verification is not completed, then account won’t be deleted.
